Every spring we pack up our winter wardrobe of heavy textures and colors and trade them in for lights and brights, not only in clothing but in makeup. Spring is an uplifting season for makeup, a time to trade in the smokey dark hues for shimmery,
colorful face paints.
This year my three favorite makeup colors are pink, purple and peach. Combined, they are luscious, worn separately they each stand alone to create a monochromatic mood in your makeup. Here are some tips for incorporating each of these colors alone or combined.
PINK
The most romantic color, pink, is tranquilizing when worn softly. It is associated with youth and femininity. If you wear hot pink it is vivacious and fun and full of pure confidence.
In makeup, pink is worn in all three of the facial zones successfully, the eyes, cheeks and lips. Soft Pink eye shadow can be worn successfully on all eye color and looks fresh and uplifting. You can wear it all over the lid and even up to the brow bone. Pink blush looks best danced right onto the apples. While we tend to wear plum tones better in the winter, spring is the perfect season to wear all shades
of pink.
PURPLE
Purple is linked to spirituality and creativity. It symbolizes royalty and luxury and is considered an exotic color. It is also feminine and romantic but can
appear artificial.
Because it is such a bold color, it is best used on the eyes as a lid or crease color only or as eyeliner. Purple brightens green and golden brown eyes and makes blue eyes sparkle. Purple should not be used in blush and only pink lipsticks with a slight purple undertone are flattering.
PEACH
Peach symbolizes balance, warmth, enthusiasm and vibrancy. An
offspring of orange, it is the softer side that is feminine and nurturing. As summer approaches, peach warms us up and looks beautiful with purple hues.
Accent your eyes, cheeks and lips with peach. Peach is a beautiful highlight color for the eyes. Bronzers for cheeks that have a golden peach undertone will warm your skin delicately. Peach lipsticks look soft and especially
natural.
Have fun playing in the new spring trio of makeup colors. Worn separately or combined, they are uplifting and a beautiful way to celebrate spring. Try pink on the lips, peachy bronze on the cheeks and soft lavender on the eyes, and combine with beauty success!
