Autumn Wedding Guide By Emily Pietro
|
One of the greatest things about living in New England is being able to enjoy the changes that come along with fall — the cool, crisp air and the
changing foliage which draws in visitors from around the country every year. This distinctiveness can make autumn the perfect season to have
your wedding, and using the season for inspiration will make your wedding one that guests will remember for years to come.
Choosing an outdoor setting for your ceremony or reception adds a rustic, old New England feel to any wedding. Orchards, farms, or historic sites
with beautiful landscapes are all ideal locations. Any site that provides a view of the changing foliage will add to the ambiance. You can create
your desired atmosphere, from the rustic feel of haystacks, cornstalks and arrangements of gourds, to the elegant, sophisticated aura of
crackling fireplaces, plush seating, and dinner by candlelight.
The colors found in nature at this time of year can also be echoed in your décor scheme. Match bouquets with table settings and even
bridesmaids’ dresses, using trademark autumn colors, such as rich reds, deep oranges, chocolate browns, emerald greens, gold and bronze.
Incorporating the use of these colors in every aspect of your wedding will add to the cozy environment that is synonymous with fall in New England.
Use the unique variety of locally grown vegetables and native flavors to enhance your dinner menu. Feature different varieties of squashes,
incorporate cinnamon or nutmeg into the main course, add a side dish with fire-roasted chestnuts, and consider having a carrot or pumpkin
wedding cake with rich butter cream frosting. Use these foods in your centerpiece arrangements as well for some unexpected flair. Other
elements that could be uniquely added to centerpieces are twigs, leaves, berries, cinnamon sticks, and colorful varieties of Indian corn.
And, upon departing the reception, consider atypical transportation that your guests will remember. Leaving on horseback or in a bed of hay on
the back of a tractor will end the evening with traditional New England style!
The Applaud Women publication is dedicated to women in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. It's purpose is to inspire, inform, and
applaud local women. The core of the magazine is our inspirational women's articles, most of which feature local women but occasionally we are
able to interview national women who we feel provide a unique inspiration for our readers. Our other articles cover topics of interest such as food
recipes, home, garden, beauty, health, fashion, dating, parenting, seniors, finance, business, hair care, skin care, advice, real estate, insurance,
weddings etc. Each issue has a feature section as well. Many of our articles are written by local business people who provide information
relevant to their business expertise. The Applaud Women website is also a resource center for local women including the most comprehensive
listings of Restaurants, Weddings, Female doctors and Hotels. It also includes a number of informational pages with links, articles and RSS feeds
to both local and national websites of interest to women in NH & n. MA. To read the publication click here then click on the cover image to turn
