The Applaud Women publication is dedicated to women in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. It's purpose is to inspire, inform, and
applaud local women. The core of the magazine is our inspirational women's articles, most of which feature local women but occasionally we are
able to interview national women who we feel provide a unique inspiration for our readers. Our other articles cover topics of interest such as food
recipes, home, garden, beauty, health, fashion, dating, parenting, seniors, finance, business, hair care, skin care, advice, real estate, insurance,
weddings etc. Each issue has a feature section as well. Many of our articles are written by local business people who provide information
relevant to their business expertise. The Applaud Women website is also a resource center for local women including the most comprehensive
listings of Restaurants, Weddings, Female doctors and Hotels. It also includes a number of informational pages with links, articles and RSS feeds
to both local and national websites of interest to women in NH & n. MA. To read the publication

Some may argue that children and etiquette no longer exist together.

{Etiquette} defined as a code of behavior that delineates expectations according to society is something that needs
to continue to be taught against all odds, especially with the technical gadgets and electronics which don’t come
with a written rule book.

The following is a list of new etiquette to fit in with the modern youth of today.

Social Media:  Facebook, Twitter, MySpace – you might not even use it as parents, but you might want to become
informed of things to watch for to protect your children and teach them respect for others.

Most serious threat -  "Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen, is tormented, threatened, harassed,
humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and
digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a
minor against another minor.

Cyberbulling is becoming a major issue as frustrated youth let their emotions go wild in chatrooms and social
networking sites.

The methods used are limited only by the child's imagination and access to technology. And the cyberbully one
moment may become the victim the next. The kids often change roles, going from victim to bully and back again.

Texting:  Sure, you have had to tell your teenager a half a dozen times to put the phone down, but common
courtesy still rules. Contrary to popular belief, composing a text to someone while you're in a face-to-face
conversation with someone else is just about as rude as taking a voice call. Remember that texting is informal.
Texting shouldn't be used for formal invitations or for serious issues, such as dumping your girlfriend or boyfriend.
Remember the tone that you use in texting sends a message in itself. Be conscientious of others' schedules. Don't
assume that because you are awake, working, not busy, or sober that the person you're texting is as well.
Finally, don’t text and drive. It is dangerous and in New Hampshire it is against the law.

Email:  Be polite! Unlike the usual format of a handwritten letter, people feel inclined to get right to the point without
considering the general feeling of the recipient. Use proper English. "Can U plz send info on careers?" This may be
appropriate for communicating with your buddies through instant messaging, but not for writing to someone you've
never met. As always, check for glaring errors, such as misspellings and poor grammar. Write well and use your
best English.

Cell Phone:  Maintain a distance of at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the nearest person when talking on a cell
phone. No matter how quietly you speak, if standing too close to others they are forced to overhear your personal
business. Phones should be turned off in movie theaters, playhouses, observatories or any other public place that
creates an atmosphere to transport the imagination of the audience. Intimate public settings such as restaurants,
public restrooms, waiting rooms, hallways, buses, subways or anywhere a private conversation is not possible is a
bad place for a cell phone conversation. To practice good cell phone etiquette, put the ringer on vibrate or silent
mode and let the call roll over to voice mail. If it's an important call, step outside or to a secluded area to return the
call. If that's not possible and you must take the call, keep your voice low and the conversation brief. Let the caller
know you'll get back to them when you're able.
