The Applaud Women publication is dedicated to women in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. It's purpose is to inspire, inform, and
applaud local women. The core of the magazine is our inspirational women's articles, most of which feature local women but occasionally we are
able to interview national women who we feel provide a unique inspiration for our readers. Our other articles cover topics of interest such as food
recipes, home, garden, beauty, health, fashion, dating, parenting, seniors, finance, business, hair care, skin care, advice, real estate, insurance,
weddings etc. Each issue has a feature section as well. Many of our articles are written by local business people who provide information
relevant to their business expertise. The Applaud Women website is also a resource center for local women including the most comprehensive
listings of Restaurants, Weddings, Female doctors and Hotels. It also includes a number of informational pages with links, articles and RSS feeds
to both local and national websites of interest to women in NH & n. MA. To read the publication click here then click on the cover image to turn
pages, print or download the entire magazine. For past issues visit the Applaud Women Library.

Do you have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear? Chances are it isn’t because you’re lacking clothes, but
that you have way too many of them! A clean closet will help you to coordinate outfits more easily, maximize space
and better organize your clothes. Here are some tips to help you with your closet make-over:
1.Have the right supplies on-hand including the most important, good hangers. My favorite type is the slim-line
hanger—a thin velvet covered hanger that keeps clothes from slipping off. The slim-line can be found in most
stores or on-line at www.onlyhangers.com/Cat-122-1-105/Slim-Line_Hangers.htm. Never use the metal drycleaner
hangers as they can stretch and ruin clothes. Other supplies include boxes and/or trash bags for sorting clothes
(label them toss, alter, donate and consign), plastic shoes boxes, and organizers for belts and scarves.
2.Start by getting rid of everything that you know you don’t like or won’t wear. Next pull everything out of your closet
that you are unsure of. Try each piece on and ask yourself the following questions:
Do I love it?
Have I worn it in the last year?
Does it flatter my shape and look great on me?
Am I saving this piece for when I lose weight?
Does it fit me well or need tailoring?
Is it comfortable?
Is it in style?
Is it worn, pilled, stained or ripped beyond repair?
Does it go with other pieces in my closet?
Does the color warm my skin tone or wash me out?
3. Put only the clothes back in your closet that you LOVE and look GREAT on you. Find a home for everything else.
If there are some pieces of clothing that you just can’t part with, put them in a clear plastic container and store them
outside of your closet (attic, basement, etc),. then re-visit them in 6 months. If you haven’t missed them, chances
are it’s time to part ways.
4.Other Tips:
Keep handbags stuffed with paper to keep their shape
Store shoes on shoe racks or in clear plastic shoe boxes (so you can see what’s inside). Clear boxes can also be
used to store scarves and hair accessories.
Weed out your closet every month using the hanger trick* and do a major closet cleaning seasonally.
After you’ve cleaned your closet, take inventory and make a list of the pieces you’re missing or need to replace.
*The Hanger Trick:
If you’re unsure of what you’re not wearing, try this trick. Take all of your clothes out of your closet and hang them
up with the hook facing you (instead of facing the wall). After you wear your clothes, hang them the right way when
you put them back into the closet. After several months, look at the hangers that are facing the wrong way---these
are the pieces you are not wearing.
