The Applaud Women publication is dedicated to women in New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. It's purpose is to inspire, inform, and
applaud local women. The core of the magazine is our inspirational women's articles, most of which feature local women but occasionally we are
able to interview national women who we feel provide a unique inspiration for our readers. Our other articles cover topics of interest such as food
recipes, home, garden, beauty, health, fashion, dating, parenting, seniors, finance, business, hair care, skin care, advice, real estate, insurance,
weddings etc. Each issue has a feature section as well. Many of our articles are written by local business people who provide information
relevant to their business expertise. The Applaud Women website is also a resource center for local women including the most comprehensive
listings of Restaurants, Weddings, Female doctors and Hotels. It also includes a number of informational pages with links, articles and RSS feeds
to both local and national websites of interest to women in NH & n. MA.

Dr. Veronica Triaca
By Emily Pietro
Dr. Veronica Triaca, a Urologist at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH, has always been interested in medicine, but she says that the decision to
become a doctor struck her fairly early at age 13. Dr. Triaca spent most of her youth moving around a lot, and lived in places such as Kenya and
Rome. While living in Kenya, Dr. Triaca was exposed to the company of physicians doing missionary work, and watching these people selflessly
help others is what ultimately cemented the decision for her. The decision to become a Urologist and to specialize in pelvic medicine, however,
had a bit more contemplation.

“I was always interested in surgery, and I felt a need to pursue this to some degree. I realized that there were a lot of female patients in this area,
but not many women who practice Urology or pelvic medicine. The field of obstetrics and gynecology used to be primarily male-dominated, and
recently there has been more of an interest in patients for seeing a female practitioner, especially when considering surgery. When going through
my training, I realized that many women are much more comfortable having a female practitioner,” says Dr. Triaca.

She credits her inspiration also to her father, who encouraged her to pursue anything she wanted, and she firmly believes that having that
support at every stage in her life was fundamental in developing who she has become.

She moved to Boston in 1990 to attend Suffolk University, received her Master’s degree at Boston University, completed her undergraduate
medical training at Temple University in Philadelphia, and then returned to Boston for her training in Urology at the Leahy Clinical Medical Center.
She completed her fellowship at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Meeting these challenges of motherhood while taking care of her patients gives her great satisfaction and is extremely rewarding, especially
knowing that her area of expertise contributes to improving the quality of her patients’ lives. “The stakes are a little higher, but changing a small
aspect of their lives can make my patients change their whole outlook. When they encounter health issues, many people withdraw from society,
but if I can help them fix these issues, I believe that I have been successful in my endeavors.”

The most challenging and rewarding aspect of her career has been balancing motherhood with her career. “I’ve been in practice for about a year
and a half, and I have a 15-month-old daughter. It’s hard meeting the challenge of juggling home life and marriage and mother and work, and I’m
sure it’s not just me that feels this way. It’s challenging for any woman in any field.”

Dr. Veronica Triaca serves as medical director of Concord Hospital Center for Urologic Care's Pelvic Medicine and Continence Program. As one
of Concord Hospitals cornerstone Centers of Excellence, the Center for Urologic Care is a fully-integrated urologic center with specialized
