Winter Care Prepares Your Skin for Spring By Caitlin Sullivan
|
Does your skin have the mid-winter blues? Symptoms may include, but are not limited to, flakes, scales, redness, cracking, irritation,
transparency and ghostly appearance. If any of these symptoms sound familiar to you, your skin may be suffering from the mid-winter blues.
There are some things that can help, with little to no side effects!
Now you may be saying “I moisturize every day, why is my skin still dry?” Think of it this way: How can you moisturize dead skin? You need
to exfoliate first. Exfoliating your skin 1-2 times per week will keep the dead skin away, and reveal the healthy, fresh skin that will be able to
absorb your moisturizer.
Keep your skin looking bright! Just because the days are dull doesn’t mean your skin has to be. Once you have exfoliated, be sure you
moisturize daily. A moisturizer with citrus extracts will keep your skin looking bright, and the fresh scent of lemon or lime will help boost your
mood! Also, you may need to switch to a heavier moisturizer than the one you would use in the summer.
Always wear sunscreen. Even though you are not spending a lot of time outdoors, you still need to protect your skin from the sun. Sun
damage is one of the most common complaints from women, and you can turn back 6 months of anti-aging treatments in just a couple hours
of sun exposure. Always protect your skin from the sun, especially if you will be hitting the slopes!
Get a spray tan! A spray tan is the best way to look instantly gorgeous and healthy in the dead of winter.
