Where We've Been & Where We're Going From Here.
Over six years ago I created Applaud magazine. My passion and purpose was to create a resource for
local women; a community to learn and . I also wanted to provide a vehicle where women business
owners could obtain affordable advertising. Unfortunately, as I am not independently wealthy, I had to
shift my focus to larger businesses for revenue. Over the past couple of months I have had to reevaluate
my mission again. With the economy in a huge crisis, and with so many businesses scaling back or going
out of business, I had to become a full time sales person to keep the magazine alive. Did I say I hate
sales?
After much thought and a resurgence of the passion that created the magazine in the first place, I came
up with a new vision. To create a Website that is truly a resource for local women in New Hampshire and
Massachusetts. Without the huge overhead costs of print and lack of space, I can provide ongoing
listings of everything from Female Doctors to School Lunch Menus. To complete this new vision, I have
created a new company called Applaud Women and by the time you are reading this, will have begun
our new Website at www.applaudwomen.com. We will still provide a publication with articles and ads
similar to the old one. Readers can either print pages or have fun turning each page while reading on-
line. Currently I have about 14+ different types of listings that will be found on the Website. We’ll even
put a link to local radio and TV stations on the school lunch menu page so parents can check the school
closings right on our site.
We will offer a listing of nonprofit organizations at no charge to them, both to ‘Give Back’ and to help
those of you who still have money to donate find the best place for your personal passions. We will
include a Women’s Business Listing for an introductory rate of only $99 per year. Yes, that’s per year.
Our regular advertising rates will be cut by almost 70% and all advertisers either renewing or signing up
by mid-April will receive two ads for the price of one. One within the publication and another elsewhere
on the Website, e.g. Restaurants can have their second ad on the restaurant listing page; wedding
businesses on the wedding listing page , etc.
So you are now reading the Website’s first issue and probably the last printed version of Applaud
Women. This is also an abbreviated version so that you will have another reason to visit the new site.
Our Scene & Be Seen, Q & A Favorites, Real Stories & Photo, Event Calendar, and Restaurant Listing
will be in the complete version on the new Website. A new issue of applaudwomen.com will be available
from four to six times per year but the listings that change on a monthly basis, e.g. School lunch menus,
will be updated monthly. We also hope to have social networking capabilities. There will be so many new
possibilities here that it’s amazing!
We will be offering free membership to the website. Visitors can complete a simple sign up to enter the
site and will also receive periodic updates about new issues and/or new listings. For now anyone wanting

I know that it is a difficult time for many people. It saddens me to hear of ageless companies like
Waterford Crystal having to declare bankruptcy. My hope is that everyone finds a positive outcome. I am
grateful to have been given a new and better vision than would have been possible otherwise.
