WODS’ Karen Blake was recently voted Boston’s Most Popular DJ, as well as Major Market Air Personality of the Year, and for good reason. This inspirational woman brings experience, personality, passion, and a load of talent with her to the airwaves every day.
Karen always knew that she wanted to be involved in some kind of show business, but she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do until high school. “I was doing a project, and after I presented it, my teacher came up to me and said, ‘You’re a really good public speaker, you should think about being a DJ,’ and I said to myself, that’s it! I knew that I could incorporate my personality into that job, and that’s very important to me.”
Born and raised in a suburb of Boston, Karen loves the fact that she has been able to work for 30 years in her native area. “One of my greatest challenges and successes is that I’ve consistently evolved and reinvented who I am as a professional without changing the essence of who I am as a person. I try to go along with the times, and try not to get stuck too much in the past. It’s all about being relevant to today and making a connection from where you’ve been to where you are now.
