New Hampshire Ski Resort Plans Independence Day Weekend Festivities Waterville

Return to the ski slopes for a summer visit as a hometown 4th of July parade,
Independence Day Festival, evening outdoor concert and fireworks will add sparkle and
tradition to the upcoming holiday at New Hampshire's Waterville Valley ski resort.

Events get underway at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 3 with Sugar Coated Shakespeare, as
two-person teams of professional actors perform songs, monologues, scenes and poems
from classical literature and Shakespeare. The Hometown 4th of July Parade starts
marching at 4:00 p.m., when the Waterville Valley community gathers for a traditional
parade presented by the Town Recreation Department. The evening is capped with a
Shakespeare in the Valley Performance from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Then on Saturday, more Shakespeare is on the schedule with a Sugar Coated
Shakespeare redux at 10:00 a.m. before the Independence Day Festival presented by the
Town Recreation Department from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. that will feature games, crafts,
an obstacle course, Fireman's BBQ, live music, a Dunk Tank, Rey Center Curious George
Chalk Talks, a Shakespeare in the Valley performance and more. A ticket cost of $10 per
child includes all activities.

An Outdoor Concert at Town Square from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. precedes the traditional
fireworks display over Corcoran's Pond at 9:30 p.m.

Then on Sunday, a New Hampshire Wildlife Show will be held outdoors in Town Square at
10:30 a.m. The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center brings various animals each week
on Sundays to discuss and show.

New Hampshire offers a plentiful assortment of parades, fireworks, community festivities, and
barbecue on and around the Fourth of July. Starting early, July 3 is the opening of the summer-
long Cochecho Arts Festival in Dover; the opening night band U.S. Air Force Liberty Pops Band,
bringing traditional and patriotic favorites. In Portsmouth, the Strawbery Banke Museum is the
site of living history demonstrations, games, food, and garden tours.

Waterville Valley, Jackson Village, and the communities of Lake Winnepesaukee also host
fireworks, with warm-up to the sky show by way of food, entertainment, children's activities, and
more. A special party cruise of Lake Winnepesaukee places visitors directly underneath the
fireworks show above the lake. Many more cities and towns host their own unique parades and
fireworks shows. Notice that some events take place on July 3 through 5.

Nancy Head, Receives 2008 Citizen of the Year Award, as
Selectman Reed Panasiti and 2007 Award winner Bill Wichman look on.

The Amherst July 4th celebration is scheduled to begin the evening of Friday, July 3rd, with
the parade to follow on Saturday the 4th, as always. The theme chosen by the Fourth of July
Committee this year is “Celebrating Our New Hampshire Heritage.”

Events will include fireworks at the High school on the 3rd and the parade Friday morning in
the village , with bands, floats, antique cars, the Wheelmen, the Mini-Kars, and much more.
The political part of the parade is expected to feature local and state candidates. After the
parade get a hot dog, burger, or slice of pizza; examine the interesting booths on the green.
Then examine the artwork displayed by more than 35 New Hampshire artists at the art show

Salem Celebrates the Fourth

July 4, 2009
Opening ceremonies begin at 7:15 p.m. with a United
States Air Force military flyover, followed by a two hour
pops concert by the Hillyer Festival Orchestra, a 40 -
piece ensemble with vocal soloists performing opera
to Broadway favorites. A special intermission show
will feature a sneak peek performance by members
of the Salem State College Summer Theatre cast of
"Footloose." At 9:15 p.m. a magnificent fireworks
display is launched from Derby Wharf.
Pre-concert activities begin at 4 p.m. with the opening
of Kids' Space, an area filled with music provided by a
local disc jockey entertaining youngsters with fun
dances, contests and prizes galore. Free children's

Opening Ceremony on June 30 from noon to 12:30 p.
m. at Faneuil Hall;

Children's Day on July 1 at City Hall Plaza, with
entertaining and educational activities by the USS
Constitution Museum, Historic New England, and the
New England Aquarium; juggling and entertainment
by Fly by Night; music by Wayne Potash and the
Music Fun Band.

Chowderfest on July 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at City
Hall Plaza. More than 2000 gallons of New England's
signature dish will be ladled out to a crowd of 11,000
enthusiastic chowder-samplers in this fun-filled
Boston tradition.

Pops Goes the 4th on July 4 from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at
the Hatch Shell on the banks of the Charles River.
This free outdoor concert is a musical celebration
with performances of patriotic favorites like "Yankee
Doodle Dandy," "America." and "Stars and Stripes
Forever";

2009 Concert Series with Music in the Marketplace on
June 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Faneuil Hall; the Navy Band
Northeast on June 30 at 5 p.m. at Faneuil Hall; The
BaHa Brothers on July 2 at noon at City Hall Plaza;
